Sound Designer, Editor, and Engineer
I recently graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and obtained my B.F.A. in Sound Design. I’m passionate about all types of sound design work, but my best work is done on post-production projects.
Working with sound in a live performance environment in what got me interested in sound in the first place. I worked with and supervised the sound team for school theater productions and various other live performances in middle school and all throughout high school, and I loved it so much that I decided I wanted to spend my life working with the wonderful world of sound.
When I first toured the campus at SCAD, the sound department was showing a live foley demonstration, and despite having never heard of it before, I was immediately intrigued. I’ve done a bit of foley performance and editing of my own now and it has become one of my top interests, even outside of work. It’s wonderful to see all the opportunities for creativity in this field.
Recording and editing sound effects is where I do my best work. It’s a point of pride for me to look back at my collections of sound effect libraries that I’ve recorded in the past, and even more so when I’m able to incorporate them into whatever project I’m working on. I truly love the way sound effects can determine whether a piece is sad, silly, emotional, or almost any emotion you want to convey.
Dialogue recording and editing goes into so many genres that it’s hard not to find at least one to enjoy. Whether it’s dialogue replacement for movies and TV, character speaking roles in video games, or even audiobooks, there’s something for everybody to enjoy, and just as fun for me to produce.
Although I started my sound journey knowing little to nothing about music mixing, I jumped into it head-first and it quickly became one of my favorite things to do. There’s so much room for me to make a piece of music my own while still helping it become what the artist envisioned.
As someone who loves video games, I took great joy in learning all the work that goes into making a game sound great. I can honestly say it’s one of the most gratifying project genres I’ve ever worked in. It’s like seeing your work come to life around you in a way that’s different from film and TV.
